CANADA PR PROCESS

There has been a rise in the popularity of the Permanent Resident (PR) visa as a means of entry for those interested in making Canada their permanent home. "Did You Know: You can get a Permanent Resident Visa for Canada even if you don't have a job offer?"

APPLY FOR CANADA EXPRESS ENTRY TO GET A PR VISA

The Express Entry program uses a points-based selection mechanism to determine who will be granted a permanent resident visa to Canada. There are essentially three types of applicants accepted by the Express Entry System.
  1.  Skilled Workers Program (SWP)
  2.  Skilled Trades Program (STP)
  3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Skilled workers may apply for a Canada PR visa under the Skilled Workers Program. In 2015, the Canadian government launched this to attract talented workers. You need 67 points out of 100 in the criteria elements below to qualify for this program.

1. Age18–35-year-olds score maximum. Above 35, points are lower and the highest age is 45.

2. Education. This category requires Canadian-equivalent upper secondary education.

3. Work experience. One year of full-time job experience is the bare minimum required to qualify. Working longer earns you more points. The National Occupational Classification (NOC) requires that your job falls under either Skill Level A or B, or Skill Type 0.

4. Language ability. Your IELTS score must be less than two years old and you need at least six bands to qualify. Possessing French language skills will put you ahead of the game.

5. Adaptability. Ten more points for flexibility are yours to utilize if your spouse or common-law partner is also eager to make the move to Canada.

6. Arranged employment. If you have a legitimate offer from a company in Canada, you may get up to 10 bonus points.

Canada Immigration through Express Entry

The Express Entry program makes it possible for qualified applicants to apply for permanent residence in Canada by drawing names from a pool of applicants. A Permanent Resident Application (ITA) in Canada will be given to you. The paperwork procedure for a permanent resident visa in Canada may begin after you have your ITA.

The ITA is analogous to the reply that the IRCC provides to Express Entry candidates. Those with the highest CRS scores in a given Express Entry lottery (typically done monthly) get this invitation.
You have 90 days from the time you obtain your ITA to complete your Express Entry profile by uploading supporting papers.

The ITA will specify whether you are eligible to apply for a Canadian permanent resident visa via the CEC or another Express Entry program. The Express Entry site will contain a document checklist that is unique to the program you are applying for. These items must also be included with your application. You will likely be asked to provide the following documents:
  • Documents supporting your English language test results
  • Civil status documents such as your birth certificate
  • Documents in proof of your education achievements
  • Documents in proof of your work experience
  • Medical certificate
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Proof of funds
  • Photos
A medical certificate from an IRCC-recognized physician is also required.

Step two is to submit your biometric information (picture and fingerprints). If you are required to provide biometric information, you may do it at a nearby collecting facility.
  • You may submit your application after you've finished the necessary checks and have all the necessary paperwork and biometrics ready.
  • Before the IRCC makes a final judgment on your application, you may be asked to attend a brief interview.
  • Your permanent resident visa for Canada will likely take about six months to complete.
If IRCC approves your application for permanent residency, they will send you a copy of your Certificate of Permanent Residence (COPR). If your application is successful, you and your dependents will be issued visas that will enable you to enter Canada through a Port of Entry (POE) and thereafter apply for permanent residence status.

Canada PR from India through Provincial Nominee Program

There are almost 80 distinct Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) available to prospective immigrants to Canada, each with its own set of prerequisites. By filling in-demand positions and addressing labor shortages, the PNP program helps provinces to fulfill their unique immigration requirements.

In order to qualify for a PNP, candidates often need to have ties to the province. They should have started looking for job or schooling in that region sooner. Also necessary is an employment offer from a provincial employer.

Some provincial nominee programs, however, allow applicants who have no ties to the province in question to apply directly to the program.

BENEFITS OF A CANADA PR VISA

As a Canada PR visa holder, you can enjoy the following benefits:
  • Possibility of future citizenship application in Canada
  • Allows you to work, study, or reside anywhere in Canada
  • Eligible to receive Canadian social benefits such as healthcare.
  • Canadian legal shield
In order to become a permanent resident of Canada, international students and workers must apply for and be granted the Canada PR visa.

Foreign nationals seeking asylum do not immediately get legal residency in the United States. The Immigration and Refugee Board has to give them refugee status before they may legally live there. After that, they're eligible to seek for permanent resident status and be granted it.

Eligibility for Canada PR

To qualify for a permanent resident visa in Canada, an applicant has to meet certain point requirements. The following are the numerous categories in which you may earn points toward fulfilling the prerequisites:

  1. Age
  2. Education
  3. Work experience
  4. Language ability
  5. Adaptability
  6. Arranged employment
To apply for a permanent resident visa to Canada under the PNP program, you must have ties to the province in question. You must either currently reside in, or be a graduate of, that province to qualify. If a provincial company has extended you a job offer, you may qualify.

Each Canadian province has its own set of standards by which permanent residency applications are assessed.

If your CRS points total is not high enough, but you still want your provincial nomination, you may apply via the PNP. As part of the PNP application process, you may indicate your preference for a nominating province.

The PNP accepts applications through both the traditional (non-Express Entry) and expedited (Express Entry) processes.

The alternative to Express Entry is to submit an application to the province or territory directly. A Notice of Interest (NOI) must be sent to the province, and if accepted, you will be issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. Timeframes of 15–19 months have been suggested.

The first step in the Express Entry process is to construct an online Express Entry Profile, where you will choose the Canadian province or territory you want to immigrate to. After that, either you will be chosen and informed by the province or territory, or you will apply directly for nomination.
